WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will report to the Director, Investment Operations and will build and maintain relationships with teams across MFAM, the Mastercard Foundation, external consultants and vendors. As a member of the team, you will have opportunities to grow and develop and create meaningful value and lasting impact through the Mastercard Foundation.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
This is a unique opportunity to be involved in starting up a world-class organization that will have global impact. You will be accountable for providing operations expertise and leadership to support the design, implementation, and ongoing execution and oversight of MFAM’s investment operations function. You will also be responsible for managing relationships with key internal and external partners including MFAM’s investments team, external investment managers, and external service providers.
Accountabilities include:
- Execution and management of MFAM’s investment operations function including new investment manager onboarding, investment accounting, transaction and capital call processing, cash payment processing, valuation of private equity funds and hedge funds, management and performance fee validation, and data and document management
- Drive the implementation of the new target operating model for investment operations to enable MFAM’s diversified investment plan, including onboarding strategic operations partners and the design and implementation of new processes
- Provide ongoing monitoring and oversight of the investment operations processes performed by external strategic operating partners
- Partner with the Investments team to operationalize new products and new investment managers, and address transaction, valuation and other investment data-related queries
- Partner with the Foundation’s finance team members on investment accounting, financial and management reporting, and strategic projects
- Lead the execution and maintenance of a robust framework for key financial and operational controls
- Contribute to projects that support MFAM’s strategic goals
- Enthusiasm for being a key player in a start-up environment, embracing hands-on execution, contributing beyond assigned responsibilities, and adapting to evolving roles and expectations
- Alignment with the mission and values of MFAM and the Mastercard Foundation
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 10+ years of experience in investment operations, including 5 years of specialized expertise in private equity funds, hedge funds, and alternative investments
- Relevant university degree in finance, accounting, or a related field in business
- CFA or Professional Accounting Designation preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of the full trade lifecycle for private equity funds, hedge funds and alternative investments
- Strong financial literacy and understanding of key finance concepts such as valuations, investment accounting, and investment structures
- Extensive experience in servicing, collaborating with, and managing the expectations of investments team members
- Proven track record of establishing high functioning relationships with external partners (custodians, brokers, external investment managers)
- Experience communicating with senior and executive management
- Strong working knowledge of investment management and operations applications
- Experience with process excellence frameworks (e.g., lean) and real-world application of process excellence principles and tools
