WHo you’ll work with
You will report to the Director, Finance and Operations and will build and maintain relationships with teams across MFAM, the Mastercard Foundation, external consultants and vendors. As a member of the team, you will have opportunities to grow and develop and create meaningful value and lasting impact through the Mastercard Foundation.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
This is a unique opportunity to help build and shape a world-class finance function within a growing asset management company that directly supports one of the largest private foundations in the world. In this role, you will combine technical accounting expertise with strategic problem-solving to establish best-in-class accounting, reporting and control frameworks. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of MFAM’s financial operations, while contributing to the organization’s long-term impact.
Accountabilities include and may not be limited to:
- Lead the preparation and review of MFAM’s financial statements and note disclosures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the latest accounting standards
- Oversee the month-end close for investment accounting, including reconciliations, supporting documentation, and management reporting
- Support the month-end process and compliance for any special purpose entities
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and advisors, managing audit processes to successful and timely completion
- Develop and maintain a strong internal control environment, identifying risks, implementing improvements, and addressing control deficiencies
- Advise on the accounting implications of new investments, policies, and standards, providing guidance to investment operations and leadership
- Support tax reporting and compliance processes for MFAM and the Foundation
- Drive continuous improvement by streamlining processes, leveraging technology, and embedding best practices
- Partner across MFAM and with external stakeholders to deliver reporting that supports strategic decision-making and organizational growth
- Contribute beyond your core responsibilities, embracing the hands-on, collaborative nature of a growing organization
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or finance operations, including at least 3 years in private equity, fund, or alternative investment environments
- A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
- Expertise in preparing financial statements, leading external audits, and applying accounting standards to complex investment structures
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk management, and accounting policy development
- Exposure to the full investment trade lifecycle (private equity, hedge funds, infrastructure, or alternative investments) is highly valuable
- Demonstrated success in building strong relationships with senior leaders, external partners, and cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear insights for decision-makers
- Experience driving process improvements and applying frameworks such as Lean or similar
- A collaborative, adaptable mindset with the energy to thrive in a start-up environment

This is a hybrid role, with a requirement to be onsite at our Toronto, Ontario office for the majority of the week (typically 3-4 days).
